Just a 30-minute speedboat transfer from Male International Airport, a cluster of three Anantara properties are located in the South Malé Atoll, the Anantara Veli resort is a stylish island hideaway ideal for a romantic retreat on the island of Veligandu. Guests under the age of 18 are not permitted to stay in the resort.
The 68 rooms, villas & residences are made up of coconut thatched roof bungalows, with 60 of the units being overwater. Stretched across the vast waters, each residence is open-plan with bright décor and traditional furnishings. Beach and lagoon access are is available from each bungalow via a staircase plunging directly into the ocean.
During the daytime, guests can enjoy a breakfast buffet in a coastal style pavilion at 73 Degrees or a cocktail in Dhoni – the chilled poolside bar. Authentic Thai restaurant, 73 Degrees Baan Huraa, offers beautiful views overlooking the lagoon, where whilst Japanese restaurant, Origami, specializes in handcrafted sushi and sashimi, complete with a Teppanyaki cooking show for guests to enjoy.
The resort offers impressive water sports facilities. Full or half-day diving in either the north or south Malé Atoll, or the Felidhu Atoll is also available for travellers to choose from.
The Travel Gallery Take – this adult only island is a perfect retreat for couples looking for overwater accommodation. We like that it has the advantage of access to the other restaurants and facilities within the other two adjacent Anantara properties. Generally sold on a Half Board basis, the Anantara properties offer good value for money.
