The property is not set on the beach but has ocean views from the pool. Access to the public sandy beach is across a main road, a few minutes walk away. The season for swimming is December to April but we would always advise caution. The sea at this point is suitable for snorkelling and surfing.
Of the nine rooms, only eight are used for guests, one is allocated to the manager. The rooms are all air-conditioned and has all the amenities of a hotel room except for a television which is omitted by design. A beautiful 60 ft pool in a beautiful garden setting with open air dining.
You will be spoilt for choice with the variety of water sports on offer. Mirissa Water Sports sailing, fishing, coastal cruises, sea kayaking and snorkelling. Don’t miss the opportunity to spot blue whales, sperm whales and spinner dolphins. Whale watching excursions are organised by Mirissa Water Sports during the season from December to April.
If land based activities are more to your like, take a trip to Galle, a 17 century Dutch Fort which has become increasingly sophisticated with galleries, shops and restaurants. Explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site with narrow streets lined with Dutch and British colonial era buildings, walk along the ramparts or enjoy a gin & tonic or a pot of tea at the Old Oriental (now the Amangalla).
